Jobs cannot be set to recur because a job's date is directly tied to the engineer assigned to it.
For example, if a job were set to recur every six months with no end date, it would be impossible to determine which engineer should be assigned to the job in years to come. Additionally, allowing jobs to recur indefinitely would clutter the system with future jobs and exhaust job reference numbers.
Instead, you can create "Recurring Events" for this purpose. From an Event occurrence, you can generate a "Quote," "Job," or "Invoice" as the date approaches, directly from the Dashboard or Calendar.
Create a recurring Event (that you can then create jobs from)
1) Create an Event in the Calendar
- Click on a day/time within the Calendar and select "Create Event".
- Enter a Title and Description for the Event.
(If a Job is created from this Event then the text in these fields will be copied to the "Job name" and "Work to be done" fields of the Job). - Choose the Event type, for example "Service".
(If a Job Type exists that exactly matches the Event Type name, then this Job Type will automatically be set if a Job is created from this Event, for example if the "Event type" is "Service" and you have a "Job type" called "Service" then this will be automatically set when a job is created from this Event, you can manage Job types and Event types using the List Management part of the Settings menu). - Select a "Customer" and optionally a "Site" for the Event.
- Choose a "Repeat" option.
- Update any other fields as necessary and then press "Save changes" to create the Event.
2) Creating a Job from an Event
- Click on the Event in the Calendar or the Dashboard.
- Press the "Create job" button which will then show the "Create job" dialog box.
(You can also create a Quote and Invoice directly from an Event).
3) Assigning an engineer to the new Job
- Most of the fields will be populated from the Event information (see step 1 above for more information).
- Choose an Engineer, Start date/time and End date/time for the new Job.
- Update any other details for the new Job as required.
- Press "Save changes" or "Save changes and open job".
4) Job created icon and link added to Event
- Once a Job has been created from an Event it will have an icon shown next to the Event in the Dashboard to signify this (see screenshot below).
- If you click on an Event in the Calendar or the Dashboard it will show a link to any Jobs created from the Event.
